Another item in the growing collection of location signs from Auckland’s West, this one welcoming us to the community of Parau (map). The sign seems to describe the place as it might appear to the passing motorist en route to Huia or Whatipu: a road between tidal estuaries and bush – but reminds us that there are people living there, slow down. I often think the sign could do with a bit of a spruce-up, but probably would not want the familiar old sign to go. So here we see it with the addition of some bright colours announcing entertainment Western style. Too bad, the dance was last week, maybe you want to note the farm day in your diary?
