Olympic Park: Hinaki

This is quite a big sculpture in glistening stainless steel, situated in Olympic Park, between the bridge and the pou whenua. Hinaki is the Maori word for eel trap, and the streams (Whau and Avondale streams) bordering and crossing Olympic Park would have been places to set traps (rather more modestly sized). The work is a design by Antonia Walmsley and Bill McKay, constructed by Murray Couling (at least that is my interpretation of the plaque, reproduced below).
