Spurwinged Plovers at Lower Nihotupu Dam
The spillway of the Lower Nihotupu Dam is perfectly constructed to line birds up neatly to be photographed, especially when the water is up to the top and just overflowing. Three spurwinged plovers (they are called masked lapwing in Australian and Vanellus miles in Latin) have flown in for a brief rest and some serious preening.
