Painted Boxes: Crown Lynn (S. McCarthy 2010)

Continuing the nostalgic look back to the brick and clay heritage of the West, here is a painted transformer (by S. McCarthy, 2010) showing memorabilia from the great days of Crown Lynn tableware. From railway cups (NZR) to your daily breakfast dishes, from the art of the decorator to the self-toned swan, even a few bricks are included. The place for this ‘memorial’ is impeccably chosen: just a few meters down the road are the last remaining brickworks, and the historic Ambrico kiln is around the corner in Ambrico Place.

  1. I do enjoy these painted utility boxes (we are not so artistic over here!) especially when they relate with the history of the area.
