Four Oystercatchers

Four Oystercatchers

The tide is rising, and soon the birds will have to move. These are variable oystercatchers (Haematopus unicolor), a species occurring in New Zealand only. In the background the Ngunguru sandspit.

  1. Ah, they look so “business like”! Guess you need to be when it’s all about eating! Fantastic capture, Paul! Love those red beaks! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  7. Great capture of the birds in a beautiful setting Paul!
I love these guys, and it is so difficult to get close to them. I was even attacked by one with small chicks.
