Black Swan and white Necks

Not long ago, Lopdell House Gallery moved from its Titirangi home down to New Lynn, in the course of earthquake strengthening and extensions of the landmark building in Titirangi. Now situated at 5 Totara Avenue, it started a new programme of window displays with an exhibition of items from the Richard Quinn collection of Crown Lynn pottery. Crown Lynn (under various names over time) was an integral part of the New Lynn scene.

Shown here are the ‘iconic’ swan vases which graced many kiwi homes from the fifties on, as well as some jugs.

A big collection (including the Quinn collection to the best of my knowledge) of Crown Lynn pottery and manufacturing equipment is being catalogued by the Portage Ceramics Trust (not accessible to the public).
