Ceramic Artist Richard Naylor

The Creative Artisan: Richard Naylor

The Creative Artisan: Richard Naylor

Richard Naylor has his special corner at the Titirangi Markets, where he displays his wares and shows off his craft at the wheel. Working with concentration, but always with a ready smile and happy to explain and answer questions. Last Sunday he had a youthful audience who watched him transform a lump of clay into a shapely vase. (And they got a chance at forming their own figures from bits of clay.)

I enjoy watching a potter at work. He does look happy in the bottom photo.

It’s not an easy thing to do, pottery. My results are happily forgotten. I hop the kids got inspired by Richard.

That first portrait is a delight, Paul. He really looks as though he gets a kick out of explaining his craft to the kids.

Many thank for your contribution to our theme.
