New Look Lopdell House
Yesterday the remaining bits of the scaffold came off Lopdell House, showing the new shape: the top floor from the 1980’s has come off (now again a roof terrace), and the facade has received a less contrasty paint job (street level still boarded up). The exterior is expected to be completed by Christmas, whilst the interior might take until February, from which time on the building will be able to be used again. Behind the construction fence on the right, the new addition to the gallery is growing, roughly at street level now (completion probably August/September 2014 — thanks to Andrew Clifford, Lopdell House Gallery Director, for information.)
Pictures of various stages in the history of Lopdell House can be found here. Link to an impression of the final result.

Peony
Our friend Ingrid had presented Mrs H with a lovely bunch of peonies. Some days later I finally made my move to take a shot. Alas, the flowers had already opened wide, and what had started out as a lovely red had changed to cream. Nevertheless, I liked the result.
Letterboxes
Green wall with 24 slots in Avondale. Some say “No Circulars” or “No Junk Mail” — seems to work.
At the Races
Let me out!
A story? With a moral?
For years I had watched the tree, somewhere on Titirangi Road: millimetre by millimetre inching its way out of the confines of the fence into freedom. Freedom! Uplifting.
Now I came across another specimen (Tiverton Road); it was well on its way. But what a price to pay!
I (nearly) got out!
