My Johnny’s Gone to Hilo (Sam Duckor-Jones)

This painted ceramic creation is entitled “My Johnny’s Gone to Hilo”, by Sam Duckor-Jones, one of the entries in the Portage Ceramic Awards currently on display at Te Uru Waitakere Contemporary Gallery (6 November 2014 to 8 February 2015).

Sam Duckor-Jones is a ceramic artist from Featherston, north of Wellington. This work is painted ceramic, so it is coloured – but here we display it in black and white, inspired by the clever lighting at Te Uru.

For more black and white images check out Dragonstar’s Weekend in Black and White.

You picked a great subject for a monochrome picture. I’ll have to look out for this artist.
