My Name Is … PILITOME

Yesterday afternoon I went to a performance at the Corban Estate Arts Centre: “My Name Is … PILITOME”, a play by Niuean writer/director/actor Vela Manusaute. The story of a New Zealand born young man of Niuean parents who visits Niue to connect with his roots. Plenty of opportunities for cultural misunderstandings (as well as understanding) and lots of laughs. There were more laughs for those members of the audience who understand Niuean – but there is enough English woven into the dialogue that one gets the drift of the story. Great timing and coordination, fine singing, strong choreography. I loved it.

    I like your shots!

I did have to look up the word Niuean, but I assumed it was related to that part of the world.
