Hine (Owen Dippie, 2015)

A recent work by Owen Dippie, created during the All Fresco weekend of the Karangahape Business Association. Showing the head of a woman (hine = girl, woman in Māori) with traditional tā moko, the Māori chin tattoo. Modelled on a family friend, Tania Cotter. Be sure to watch the video clip by Māori TV of the unveiling. (Not sure if it is available outside NZ.)

The mural is in Upper Queen Street, three storeys high, overlooking the motorway, next to the bridge.

More murals at Oakland Daily Photo.

Two more of Owen Dippie’s Auckland murals here and here.

    Quite a striking work!

  2. Amy

I love seeing clever pieces of artwork like this on buildings, takes away the dullness 🙂
