Furniture by Karen Kennedy

This chess table and sofa in Onehunga Mall are by Karen Kennedy, made from ferrocement with handmade tiles. The seat shows some of the buildings along Onehunga Mall in a whimsical way. The underside of the table contains some historical references (“Christine Fletcher is mayor”) and frivolities (“Would you peep under a lady’s skirts this way?”), together with chess pieces and other wisdom.

As the country goes wild after the win of the All Blacks over the Springboks, we offer a picture of relaxed calm…

Taken at the Auckland City Walk, an easy one hour amble through bush with birdsong all around you. This is the Waitakere Stream where it is joined by the Cascades Stream.
