Details from a flock of kingfishers at the Harbourview Sculpture Trail. About 15cm high, mounted on kanuka poles of varying lengths, these cast glass sculptures are the work of Fiona Rennie Schwieters. Shown here on a rainy day.
Kotare is the maori name for kingfisher (halcyon sancta), and Te Atatu – the location of the Trail – is translated as “Dawn”.
Very colourful glasswork!
