Balancing Act?
Nuffield Lane, Newmarket, is a veritable gallery of street art. Here an item by BMD – with the inscription “Nuffield YGB” (Young, Gifted and Broke).

The Divide (Andrew J. Steel)
This wall in Morningside is reserved for street art royalty. Here Andrew J. Steel (who up until recently was one half of “BMD“) struts his stuff.

Procession
Last weekend was the Titirangi Festival, with its traditional afternoon of music and entertainment in and around the village square. A few impressions from a couple of hours early in the afternoon.

Higher and Higher
The former “So-Hole” is filled in, and buildings going up, here assembled from precast concrete panels.

Peter (Paul Willis) and Musicians
Last night we saw Romeo and Juliet at the Popup Globe. Our son Christoph had shouted us prime seats (they still were quite hard though…), giving us excellent view of the proceedings. Spare a thought for the “groundlings” – standing room only in the pit – the attraction being the even closer proximity to the action, even getting roped into the story, not to mention the price ($15, or $10 on the night).
A bloodbath – but a great experience.

The Cast

Onehunga
The logo of Onehunga is a ‘crooked house’, a free rendition of the former Post Office of the suburb (corner Onehunga Mall and Princes Street). Always cheerful with its yellow background.

Onehunga

Former Post Office, Onehunga
This stone building was opened in 1902 as the post office of the borough of Onehunga, serving in this role for 70 years. Nowadays it is a Columbus Coffee House. Great to sit under the trees out the back on a fine day!
Corner Princes Street and Onehnga Mall.
