Some gnarly pohutukawa trees rest on the mudstone flats of Flounder Bay, at the bottom of South Avondale Domain. The sun not quite strong enough to break through the mist that blows in from Manukau Harbour.

The grape harvest is long over, but the vineyard is still parading beautiful autumn colour before winter comes.
This is Artisan vineyard in Parrs Cross Road. We have seen these vines before the harvest.

Painted Boxes: The Eel
(Wednesday is for painted boxes.)
This transformer stands on West Coast Road, at the entrance to Parrs Park (map). A giant eel winds snake-like around the box.
Eels are a traditional food source of the Maori and play an important role in their culture. Much detailed knowledge and skill went into the construction of traps and weirs to catch them. See also the eel trap in Olympic Park, shown earlier.
I do not know the name of the artist.
