The TSB Bank Wallace Arts Centre is showing an exhibition of photographs by Glenn Jowitt (June 10 to August 3, Part of the Auckland Festival of Photography). In his Artist Talk, Glenn brought to life the origin of his images.

Glenn Jowitt achieved international prominence in the 1980s with his landmark publication Images Pacifiques/Pacific Images – a book of spectacular photographs of Pacific Island people, published by Doug Owens (1986). The photographs were first exhibited at Auckland City Art Gallery in 1983, and again in Paris in 1986, also touring to Fiji.

The James Wallace Arts Trust has recently acquired the original suite of Ektacolor prints which made up the Auckland and Paris exhibitions of Images Pacifiques.

  1. That is the place I like to look around!
I even went to Copenhagen once just to see Richard Avedons work. And that is not so close to Stavanger:) But well worth doing.
