… Henderson. A big mural has gone up recently along Alderman Drive, Henderson, at the corner with Great North Road: Welcome, welcome to Henderson!

It is signed “Kakano Youth Art” and “Unitec BCE 2015”. On the link we are promised four high profile walls – will have to keep my eyes open for more fine work to appear!

This project is engaging with and working alongside West Auckland youth, established artists, the Pacific Arts Centre and other stakeholders to deliver creative, highly visible public artwork.”

The Trombonist

The home of the Waitakere Brass Band is next to the railway line at Olympic Park. A group of fine artists (Nate, Nirvana, Sore, Ezra, Jonny4H, Mandy — Kakano Youth Arts Collective) have covered it in murals, displaying themes of music and nature. Nice work!
