Murals in Avondale by TakerOne, an Auckland based mural artist of Hungarian extraction (“TakerOne Photorealistic Graffiti”). If you follow this link you can watch a time lapse video of the creation of the camouflage girl with dog. Love it.

Motorway signage at the Patiki Road Exit city bound of State Highway 16. The first time that I noticed the logo WR (Western Ring Route – leftmost item for Exit 8B). A dark sky over the city, sunshine in the West.

The birds have obviously enjoyed an apple (variety “NZ Rose”) that may have been left behind after the Avondale Markets.

The first Avondale Public Hall (in St Georges Road) was built in 1867 — and shows signs of old age.

From 1931 to 1973 it was the home if the Avondale Public Library. I don’t know what role it plays these days.

Applause as the horses cross the finish line. In the distance some also-rans, New Lynn, and Titirangi in the hills.
