Massey Birdwood Settlers Hall (Mandy Patmore)

The Community Hall at the junction of Don Buck and Red Hills Roads seems to be in the first instance the place of the Redhills Community Kindergarten, but there is wider scope: House, Indoor Bowls, Kung Fu, Cake Decorating, Fellowship and more. On the Red Hills Road side, you find this topical mural by Mandy Patmore (with a hand from Massey Primary). A beautiful Tui in a swirl of cowherd, and historic settler scenes.

… and a rat. More mural art from Nuffield Lane, Newmarket. The birds and ornaments by Charles and Janine Williams (quoting from a mural in Poynton Terrace), the rodent by Haser and TMD. “follow the Light”, indeed this brightens up the back alley no end!

This wall in Morningside is reserved for street art royalty. Here Andrew J. Steel (who up until recently was one half of “BMD“) struts his stuff.

Big Mural, Green Bay

Not too long ago, a new mural appeared on a concrete block wall, bringing the bush and its inhabitants right to the roadside. I don’t know who designed and painted it. A nice touch to incorporate the container behind the wall into the work. Painter: Ellen Kerssens.

Te Atatu Mural by Cliff Uepa

Te Atatu Mural by Cliff Uepa

The big Te Atatu mural by Cliff Uepa identifies the shop behind the large wall next to the Te Atatu Peninsula Roundabout, and also advertises all that you could meet in and around Te Atatu. Boats, Sky Tower, Harbour Bridge, Waitakere Ranges, surfers, beaches, wildlife of all manner, and then some. Too big to fit into one frame…
