An assortment of sailboats at the Ponsonby Cruising Club, Westhaven.
According to wikipedia, Auckland Council’s Westhaven Marina is the largest yacht marina in the southern hemisphere, with about 2000 berths and moorings. Here is a small fraction of the many masts, with the Harbour Bridge as backdrop.
A congregation of buoys at Westhaven.
The entrance to the underbelly of our Harbour Bridge at Westhaven is fenced off by aluminium panels showing reproductions of historic photographs from the time of its construction. They appear in a very subtley grey-in-grey toning, and on closer inspection reveal themselves as rasterizations, with holes of different sizes (according to tonal density) punched into the sheets (AM screening). Clever.
Auckland has the slogan “City of Sails”. This picture shows some of the masts to attach sails to. In the background the city of Auckland.
